Governor Jack Dalrymple and Hess Corporation today announced a $25 million donation from the Hess Corporation to fund statewide education initiatives.  The donation will fund Succeed 2020, a statewide education project aimed at helping North Dakota students become better prepared for college and careers.  Flakoll noted that “specific goals of Succeed 2020 include increasing ACT scores, decrease the need for developmental or remedial education, and increasing the number of students who complete high school and college programs on-time.”

Flakoll is joined by Representative RaeAnn Kelsch as the two Legislators selected to serve on the committee. As a member of the steering committee, Flakoll will advise the project during the implementation phase which lasts through June 2017.

Flakoll noted that “Hess selected North Dakota because we already have a number of systems in place which will allow us to nimbly move toward progress which will enhance education outcomes. North Dakota has a history and culture of willingness to move in new directions to improve education and increase the achievement of our students.”
